David Lyle Haskins 1943-2012

TOWANDA — David Lyle Haskins, 68, died July 3 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was born Nov. 13, 1943 at Beloit, the son of Lyle Haskins and Josie Helmbrecht. He was a resident of Towanda, formerly of Beloit, Norton, Osborn and Ellinwood.
David was a banker and real estate agent. He was a graduate of Fort Hays State University in 1967. He had been a loan officer at People’s State Bank in Ellinwood.
He was an Episcopalian, and was a member of Pheasant’s Forever. He was involved in starting the Chautauqua Isle of Lights, Masonic Lodge and Midean Shrine all in Beloit. In Ellinwood, Daivd was a leader in the Pride Program that started the EAE,  later evolving into the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and real-estate development.
He married Linda Jones on Jan. 23, 1965 in Concordia.
Survivors include wife Linda, of the home; son, Brian Haskins of Augusta; sister, Donna Allan Gaskill of Superior, Neb. mother-in-law, Wila Jones of Beloit; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Eric and sister, Helen Linton.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. July 14 at McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit with The Rev. Michael Clark officiating. Burial will be at Scottsville Cemetery in Scottsville. Memorials may be made to the Eric Haskins Memorial Endowment at KSU or donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
