HOISINGTON — David Ross Hinman, 68, died Sept. 26, 2023, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kan. He was born Oct. 7, 1954, in Winfield, Kan., the son of Wilbur “Jack” and Wilma Fern (Billings) Hinman. He then served during the Vietnam War in United States Navy as a aviation ordnanceman.

On Jan. 18, 1992, he married Laree Rose Radenberg in Oklahoma City, Okla. They moved back to Kansas in 2003 and David worked for Oneok and in the oil field driving water and tank trucks for Ellinwood Tank Service and Paul’s Oilfield Service. Driving was not only his job but his hobby, as he loved all things with a motor. He would drag race and was a member of the NHRA. He loved his vintage hot rods and would often take them to shows. David also loved animals but he mostly loved spoiling his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Laree Hinman of the home; son, Steven Hinman and wife Sarah of Hoisington; daughter, Melony Johnson of Clarksville, Tenn.; and grandchildren Jackson Hinman and Kathryn Titsworth of Hoisington and Ian and Tyler Durant of Clarksville, Tenn.;  one great-grandson; siblings, Michael Hinman and wife Connie of Lawtey, Fla., Steve Hinman and wife Debbie of Moore, Okla., Janet Winters and husband Mike of Wetumka, Okla., Carol Peek and husband Stuart of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18th, 2024, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to David Hinman Memorial Fund, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544.
