RUSSELL — Delores LaVonne Rabas, 56, passed away Sept. 14, 2014 from an automotive accident in Ellsworth County.
Born Sept. 13, 1958. in St. Francis, she was the daughter of Philip L. and Maxine L. (Beechley) Crawford. She grew up in St. Francis and graduated from St. Francis High School. She then attended Fort Hays State University. On Nov. 24, 1979, she was united in marriage to William Allan “Bill” Rabas in Luray. This union was blessed with two daughters, Sarah and Kimberly. They made their home in Russell. Delores was an Oil Appraisal Clerk for Russell County. She also was a para-professional for USD 407 for several years and worked as a bank teller before that. She enjoyed gardening, scrap booking, sewing and spending time with family and friends. It was her grandchildren that she held closest to her heart.
Mrs. Rabas was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Circle of Friends, and a Lady of ISIS Shrine. In the past, she also was a member of Zeta Mu Sorority.
Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Martin (Darin), Claflin; and Kimberly Ryan (Michael), Russell; her father, Philip Crawford; a brother, Larry Crawford, Norton; a sister, Virginia McKeown (Daniel), Webber; and four grandchildren, Randall, Treiton, Aislee and Brenton.
She was preceded in death by her mother; her husband Bill; a sister, Norma Jean Crawford; and a granddaughter, Quinlee Martin.
Celebration of Delores’ Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Russell. Burial will follow at the Wilson City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell with the family present to greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
A memorial has been established as an Educational Fund for the grandkids. Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.
