BURWELL, NEB. —  Donitta Ann Conrad, 50, of Burwell, Neb. died on Oct. 11, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Jan. 13, 1964, in Ransom, she was the daughter of Donald and Ruby (Armer) Popp. She attended elementary school at Pawnee Rock, and in 1982, graduated from Hoisington High School. After graduation she attended Barton Community College where she received her associate’s degree. On April 27, 1985, she married JP Conrad in Hoisington. They lived in Kansas for a time before moving to Burwell, Neb. in 1987. She was employed by the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell, Neb. as a nurse. In 2005, she attended Mid Plains Community College in North Platte, Neb. to continue her nursing education. In 2010, Donitta and JP moved to Grand Island, Neb. She was a nurse at Tiffany Square in Grand Island, Neb. In 2012, Donitta and JP moved back to Burwell, Neb. where she continued to work at the Community Memorial Health Center until her health forced her to quit. She was an avid gardener and an outstanding cook. She loved the outdoors and was very passionate about her work and care for the elderly and loved to spoil her grandkids.
Mrs. Conrad was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, JP Conrad of Burwell, Neb.; two children, Bruce and Maggie Conrad of Bartlett, Neb. and Jessica and Evan Goodwin of Hastings, Neb.; and four grandchildren, Chet, Gracie, Natalie and Bozley Conrad; parents, Don and Ruby Popp of Hoisington; two brothers, Greg and Marla Davidson and DeWayne Davidson all of Great Bend; a sister, Glenda and Brett Cloutier of Clermont, Fla.; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Esther and Herman Popp and Lena Jenkins and Leo Armer; her uncle Duane Popp; a cousin, Kevin Popp; and her father-in-law, Bob Conrad. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burwell, Neb. with the Rev. Greg Volzke will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell, Neb. Burial will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Hoisington Cemetery.
