Dorala Janie DeVore 1940 - 2016

ELDORADO — Dorala “Janie” DeVore passed away at her home on Sunday Oct. 9, 2016. Janie’s life began on Oct. 28, 1940, in Waterville, the daughter of Ralph B. and Veda E. (Bonnett) Karst. She attended school in El Dorado and worked 22 years for Boeing in Wichita and eight years for Cessna prior to Boeing.
Janie was a member of the Prospect Baptist Church and enjoyed her Friday Bible Study. She was an avid quilter, and enjoyed crocheting doilies. Janie had served as the treasurer of the El Dorado Senior Center. She loved working with her flower garden, street rod runs, riding dirt bikes and when she was younger she modelled.
Her greatest joy was her family which includes sons Bobbie (Tammy) Brundege and Clint (Lisa) Pierce, both of Augusta; grandchildren and stepson Roger Pierce of Burden; grandchildren Heath and Travis (Amber) Brundege and Kayla Mantanona; great-grandchildren Alex, Blake, Alexis, Emily, Hayden, Sarah, Rylee, Ava and Ryan; siblings Ralph (Ruby Faye) Karst of Wichita, Charlie (Ann) Karst of El Dorado, John (Karen) Karst of of El Dorado, Carolyn (Craig) Wentling of Milford; and sister-in-law Betty Karst of Vancouver, Wash. She is preceded in death by her parents; grandson Austin; and brother, Gary Lee Karst.
Her family gathered with friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Carlson Funeral Home where her funeral service was held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. led by Pastor John Harms. She was be laid to rest in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Janie’s name may be directed to the Prospect Baptist Church.
