Doris E. Witt 1932-2016

STAFFORD – Doris E. (Clair) Witt, 84, passed away Sept. 1, 2016 at Stafford. Born June 3, 1932 at St. Rose Hospital, Great Bend, she was the daughter of Walter Clair and Lois Heyen Clair. On Dec. 14, 1950 she married Vernon Witt at Gainsville, Texas. Doris and Vernon had two children: Debra J. (Witt) Newell and Kim V. Witt.
Survivors include her son; Kim V. Witt of Sterling, a sister, Connie (Clair) Garey; a brother, Alan Clair; three grandchildren: Brian D. Witt of Hays, Dr. Bradley J. Newell of Wichita and Katrina D. (Witt) O’Hara of Topeka; three step-grandchildren: Derek, Christy and Beth; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, her brother, Ronald, her daughter, Debra, and son-in-law, Donald G. Newell.
A lifetime Hudson, St. John, Stafford community member, she was a member of the Trinity Community Church, Hudson, the Trinity Church Community Guild, a 4-H Community Leader, and served the church through teaching Sunday School and serving on the church board. She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed traveling around the country and spending time at the lake with her family.
Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 6 at Trinity Community Church. There will be a private burial of the ashes at the Trinity Cemetery, Hudson. Memorials can be made to Trinity Community Church in care of Minnis Chapel, Stafford.
