BROOMFIELD, Colo. — Doris E. Baker, daughter of Frank and Rose Kubat was born on May 20, 1930 in Okeene, Okla. She departed this life Dec. 18, 2011 from injuries received from an auto accident.
Doris Kubat was married to Earl Baker on Feb. 3, 1951 in Oklahoma City, Okla. Moving frequently during the first part of their marriage, they settled in Great Bend for more than 35 years. In Great Bend, they raised three children, Christy, Stacie and Curtis. In 1993, Earl and Doris moved from Kansas to Broomfield, Colo. where they started a new home, made many new friends in their community and at their church, Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church.
Doris was a beloved mother who stayed at home and cared for her family. She was an expert seamstress, decorator and made the most wonderful pies known to anyone lucky enough to have experienced a piece. Doris was a kind person with a soft touch and gentle nature, loved by all.
Doris is survived by her three children, Christy Tuttle, Stacie Hamilton and Curtis Baker; their spouses, Rick Tuttle, Craig Hamilton and Norie Baker; grandchildren, Amber Kavan and her spouse, Jeremy Kavan, Justin Baker, Zachery Baker, Chandra Boren and Jennifer Frye; great-granddaughter, Olivia Lopez; and siblings, Mary Lorenz and George Kubat.
Two memorial services will be held. The first service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Friday at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 900 West Midway Boulevard in Broomfield, Colo. Viewing and rosary will be at 10 a.m. Friday with a Mass at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow Mass in the Ryan Hall room.
The second service will be a viewing and a Mass scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30 at St. Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Church, 211 South 5th Street in Okeene Okla. A graveside memorial service at the Collins Cemetery will follow the service.
