Doris M. McCullah Fair 1920 - 2011

ALDEN — Doris May McCullah Fair, 91, died June 13, 2011 in Federal Way, Wash.
She was born Feb. 7, 1920 in Mariposa County, Calif, the daughter of John D. and Mary G. Swope McCullah. On Aug. 23, 1941, she married Harry Eugene (Gene) Fair near Alden. He died on Nov. 14, 1973.
She attended San Jose State College where she was  a member of the Black Masque Honorary. In 1973, she graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in social work. She was employed by Meals on Wheels in Wichita, then moved and worked in the Seattle, Washington area. A longtime resident of Alden, she was a homemaker and helper on the family farm. Upon retirement, she traveled and read extensively, and enjoyed hobbies of photography and doll-making.
Mrs. Fair was a member of the Alden Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Dody and husband Dennis, Federal Way, Wash. and Nancy Ricker and husband Ron, Raymond; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Steven A. Fair; her parents; and five brothers, Jack W. McCullah, Melvin W. McCullah, Glenn A. McCullah, Bob L. McCullah and Duke D. McCullah.
A memorial service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25 at the Alden Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Bethell officiating. A private burial will take place prior to the service at the Alden Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Alden Baptist church or the charity of choice in care of the funeral home.
