GREAT BEND — Dorothy Alice Foos, 85, died Nov. 13, 2017, at Diversicare of Larned.
She was born Aug. 23, 1932, at Radium, the daughter of Leon and Ruby (McComb) Gitgood.
She married Leroy E. Foos Jan. 2, 1952, at Great Bend. He died Dec. 2, 2015. A lifetime area resident, Mrs. Foos worked in her husband’s service station business and later she started the Golden Eagle Club at First National Bank and then the American Eagle Club at American State Bank, retiring in her seventies.
Mrs. Foos was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, where she could often be found serving as greeter.
Survivors include three sons, Lonnie Foos and companion Sandy Parret, Larned; Fred Foos and his wife Debra, Redmond, Ore.; and David Foos and his wife Georgia, Derby; a brother, Joe Gitgood and his wife Della, Guthrie, Okla; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Kent Gitgood, John Gitgood and Benny Gitgood; and three sisters, Wanda Shaver, Jackie Houston and Janice Gitgood.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 at First Church of the Nazarene in Great Bend with her niece, Pastor Dorothy Annette Whipp officiating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home.
