Dorothy Louise Kennedy 1927 - 2017

OKMULGEE, Okla. — Dorothy Louise Kennedy, 90, of Okmulgee, Okla., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at the Highland Park Manor in Okmulgee, Okla. Dorothy was born in Larned on Feb. 16, 1927, a daughter of the late Malinda Louise (Baeunel) and Delbert Blair Dreese. She graduated from Larned High School. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse and was employed by the State Hospital in Larned. She was the widow of Joe Lloyd Kennedy. Dorothy was a talented artist known for her paintings of farm scenes on saw blades.
She was a lifetime member of First Christian Church of Larned. After her retirements, she was an active senior attending dances and traveling on their bus trips. She was devoted to her loyal cat Friskie.
Dorothy is survived by three sons, Joe and wife Jean Kennedy of Okmulgee, Okla., Karlton Kennedy, of Olathe, and Allen and wife Lois Kennedy of Larned. She is also survived by grandsons Kyler Kennedy of Olatha, Dean Kennedy of Larned, and Clayton Dodge and wife Leslie of Morris, Okla.; great-granddaughters Halee and Alexis Dodge of Morris, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joe; a brother Kenneth Dreese; and sister Velma Wilson.
Viewing and visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 7, at the Schaudt Okmulgee Chapel, 220 S. Alabama. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Larned Cemetery. Friends and family may view the obituary and leave remembrances at www.schaudtfuneralservice.com.
