ELLINWOOD — Dorothy Marlene (Dittrick) Panning, 87, passed away at Woodhaven Care center in Ellinwood, Kan. on Sept. 14th, 2020. Dorothy was born in Springfield, Mo. on Aug. 30, 1933 to parents Charles and Valeria (Wilson) Dittrick. She grew up in Great Bend and was a lifetime Ellinwood resident. Dorothy married Larry Panning Nov. 18th, 1951 in Manhattan, Kan. He survives. 

Dorothy was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, past President of the LWML, member of Tri Circle Club, Sweet Adelines (Great Bend), Ellinwood card club,  4-H Leader and Grove Park golf club. 

Survivors include husband, Larry Panning, Ellinwood, Kan.; children, Susan Dannebohm, Ellinwood, Kan., Sandy Eggers, Ellinwood, Kan., David (Marlene), Great Bend, Kan., Terry Panning (Desa), Ellinwood, Kan., Kevin Panning, Wichita, Kan. Additional survivors include 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, George Dittrick and Helen Gardner.  

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 18th, 2020 at St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinwood, Kan. with Reverends Thomas Thierfelder, Kenton Abbott and James Keltner officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 17th 11-7 p.m. with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood, Kan. Interment will take place at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood, Kan. Memorials are suggested to St. John Church new building fund in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.minnischapel.org.
