Douglas McKay Anderson

LARNED — Douglas McKay Anderson, 62, passed away July 26, 2018 at his home in Larned from natural causes. He was born Aug. 17, 1955 in Wichita, Kan., the son of Harold “Andy” and Bettye McKay Anderson.  He was a teacher for 15 years. A Larned resident since August 2006, moving from Arkansas City, where he received the 2005 Ark City USD #470 Teacher of the Year award, then retired from USD #495 Larned School District.

He was a past member of the Fort Larned Lions Club, loved hunting, enjoyed reading, writing, cooking, running and bicycling.

Survivors include, son, Jack Anderson, daughter Kristin Anderson, both of Larned; two brothers, Gene (Linda) Anderson and George Anderson, both of Wichita; a sister, Paula Anderson, Wichita; nephew, Tom (Kami) Anderson, Wichita; and a niece, Cindy (Seth) Peterson, Plano, Texas. He was preceded in death by, his parents; and a sister, Kristin Anderson.

Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 at the First Southern Baptist Church, 1224 Corse Ave, Larned, Kan., with Pastor Mark Slattery presiding.
