Doyle Rand, 88, died on Nov. 21, 2015, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Nov. 15, 1927, in Rodney, Ark., he was the son of John Henry and Sylvia (Hand) Rand. In 1949, he met the love of his life Betty Lou Rutter in Pratt. They were married on April 17, 1949, in Coats. She passed away on July 15, 2015. A resident of Great Bend he worked in the oil fields with Harms Petroleum for 33 years and was the owner of Rand Properties.
Mr. Rand served in the United States Army during World War II in the Army Medical Corps for two years.
Survivors include one son, John Rand and wife Terri Jo of Great Bend; one daughter, Elaine Rand of Great Bend; two sisters, Ima Lee Sanders of Horseshoe Bend, Ark. and Virginia Sanders and husband Todd of Calico Rock, Ark.; one brother, John Howard Rand and wife Alteen of Rodney, Ark.; three grandsons, Tyler, Eric and Dylan Rand; two great-grandsons, Brayden Rand and Jaidyn Rand; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Paden officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., today at the funeral home.
