Duane Alan Hiss, 56, of Hoehne, Colorado, passed away into the arms of Jesus on July 27, 2018. He was born October 19, 1961 in Great Bend, Kansas, to Loren and Elsie (Lofland) Hiss. He married Tammy (Mayhew) Hiss on July 12, 1981 in Great Bend, Kansas.
During his life he worked in the oil and gas industry, which took him from Kansas to Wyoming, to New Mexico, to Colorado, where he settled for the remainder of his life. Duane loved the outdoors and was rarely found inside. He enjoyed fishing, farming and ranching, but ultimately would have chosen hunting over any other activity.

He is survived by his loving wife, Tammy, of 37 years; his father, Loren Hiss of Great Bend, Kan.; his three daughters, Amanda and her husband Eric Vialpando of Walsenburg, Colo., Megan Hiss of Burlington, Colo., and Taylor and her husband Trey Wilcox of Burlington, Colo. He has three grandchildren, Elsie Vialpando, Elijah Vialpando and Ezekiel Vialpando. He was also expecting his fourth grandchild in September of this year. Also surviving are his two sisters, Barbara and her husband John Begler of Ellis, Kansas, and Lynda Youngers of Murphy, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie (Lofland) Hiss.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 3-7 p.m. at Comi Funeral Home in Trinidad, Colorado. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Trinidad, Colorado. Interment will be at the Tercio Cemetery.
