Duane M. Oborny

RUSH CENTER — Duane M. Oborny, 58, Rush Center, Kan., died Friday, July 31, 2020, at his home.

Duane was born Sept. 21, 1961, in La Crosse, Kan., the son of Frank and Catherine (Bahr) Oborny. He was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kan. A 1980 graduate of La Crosse High School, La Crosse, Kan., and a graduate of North Central Kansas Area Vocational-Technical School, Beloit, Kan., he was a farmer.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Timken, Kan., and Knights of Columbus Council 2100, Olmitz, Kan. He was a CCD teacher, and a church Eucharistic minister.

On Sept. 22, 1984, he married Clara Kaiser at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Claflin, Kan.  

Survivors include his wife, Clara Oborny, Rush Center, Kan.; three daughters, Amanda Breshears, Salina, Kan., Julie Lang (Cody), Wichita, Kan., and Brittany Oborny (fiancé, Jesse Peach), Rush Center, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Preslie Breshears, Gabbie Breshears, and JoJo Breshears, all of Salina, Kan., and Kourtlyn Lang, Swayzie Lang, Tatim Lang, and Blakely Lang, all of Wichita, Kan.; five brothers, Steven Oborny (Barb), Rush Center, Kan., Gerald Oborny (Laurie), Great Bend, Kan., Francis “Frank” Oborny (Debbie), Castle Rock, Colo., James “Jim” Oborny (Lisa), Bells, Texas, and Anthony “Tony” Oborny (Denise), Mission Viejo, Calif.; and two sisters, Rita Stevenson (Monte), Golden, Colo., and Kathleen Liggett (Jeff), Parker, Colo.; mother-in-law Pauline Kaiser, Salina, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law Royce Kaiser.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Timken, Kan. A vigil service and rosary will be at 7 p.m.  

Funeral service will be Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Timken, Kan., with Father Stephen Dabanka officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Timken, Kan. Social distancing is recommended. Masks are recommended.
