Edna Kathryn Starnes 1930 - 2016

ELLINWOOD — Edna Kathryn (LeManske) Starnes, 86, passed away March 10, 2016 at Wesley Woodlawn Hospital in Wichita. Born in Kansas City, on Feb. 24,1930 she was the daughter of True Jack and Hattie (Taylor) LeManske. Edna married Eugene (Gene) Starnes on Feb. 18, 1952, in Kansas City.
She was an Ellinwood resident since 1965 and a member of the Methodist faith. She loved to bake, play cards, drink coffee, and truly enjoyed her later years spent with good friends at Woodhaven Care Center.
Survivors include sons, Gregory Starnes, Natoma and Kelly Starnes, Ellinwood; daughters, Kathy Cowley, Hays and Lori Kowalsky (Gregg), Ellinwood; sisters, Mary Heath and Anna Roth, Kansas City. Other survivors include three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gene, sisters, Juanita Hoffman and Trueene LeMansky; brothers, Wyatt LeManske and Truejack Jr. LeManske; and son in law, Terry Cowley.
Funeral service will be Tuesday March 15 at 10 a.m. at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6-8 on Monday March 14 at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to Woodhaven Care Center in care of Minnis Chapel, 113 N. Main, Ellinwood, KS 67527.
