LIBERAL — Ednetta (Nettie) Springer Gilmore Brown Crotts died, Sept. 9, 2016 at Wheatridge Park Care Center. Born May 26, 1918, in Hoisington she was the daughter of Frank and Marie Klas Springer. On Dec. 22, 1958, she married Lawrence Crotts, in Hebron, Neb. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1993. She moved to Olmitz at the age of 5, and moved to Great Bend when she was 15, to work as a housekeeper. At age 17 she joined her parents in Ottawa. She worked at Hercules Powder Plant in DeSoto, during World War II and then she worked for A.L. Duckwalls for nine years in Great Bend, Pratt and Liberal.
Mrs. Crotts was a member of the Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son, Frank Bethas of Wichita; a daughter-in-law, Marlene Petz Gilmore of Mesa, Ariz.; a stepson, Richard Crotts of New Guinea; a stepdaughter Janice Crotts Sargent of Miami, Fla.; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five foster children; 18 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and many step-great and step-great-great and foster grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Springer; mother Marie Hain and stepfather, Joseph Hain Sr.; one sister, Felicitas Springer Hermes; three half-brothers, Harry, Joseph and Martin Hain; a son, Jimmie Dean Gilmore; two grandsons, David Gilmore and Todd Gilmore; a great-grandson Chad Woods; and a step-grandson, Jason Crotts.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal with Father Jim Dieker officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Foundation for the Blind, 2 Penn Plaza, Ste. 1102, New York, NY 10121 or in care of the funeral home.
