Edwin O. Hiss, 79, of Great Bend, died Dec. 29 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. He was born Nov. 9, 1931, at Great Bend, the son of Fred Henry and Mary Bertha (Janne) Hiss. He married Violet Krentzel on April 29, 1967, at Great Bend. A lifetime Barton County resident, he was a farmer and stockman.

Mr. Hiss was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife Violet, of the home; one daughter, Chris Clasen and husband Mark of Seward; two sisters, Verna Hewitt of Ellinwood and Marilyn Button of Great Bend; two brothers, Lawrence Hiss of Ellinwood and Loren Hiss of Great Bend; and one grandson, Kyle Clasen. He was preceded in death by one son, Ray Hiss.

Private family service with inurnment will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until noon Tuesday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Donations to memorial funds for Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice or Alzheimer’s Association may be made in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
