HERINGTON — Elaine V. Talbot, 87, of Herington, died July 21, 2011, at the Medicalodges of Herington. Born July 5, 1924, in Bloomfield, Mo., she was the daughter of Linord E. and Grace M. (Hopkins) Caldwell. On July 12, 1946, she married E. Ray Talbot at St. Louis, Mo. She received her associate degree with William & Jewell University. She was a homemaker and a Nurses Aide.
Mrs. Talbot was a minister’s wife, serving on numerous church committees, and active with the American Baptist Women of the Central Region. Her husband served the Baptist Churches in Gardner, Horton, Sabetha, Atchison, Great Bend and Herington.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; four daughters, Deborah Ratzlaff of Orlenta, Okla., Martha Tollefson of Manhattan, and Rachel Beaver and Ruth Hailey, both of Herington; two sisters, Ruth Determan of Woodriver, Ill., and Patricia Palubiak of St. Louis; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Herington, with the Rev. Darrell Geist officiating. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. The family requests memorials to the First Baptist Church of Herington, in care of the funeral home.
