HOISINGTON — Elizabeth J. “Betty Jean” Schneider, 83, died May 16, 2014, at Salina Regional Medical Center, Salina. She was born Aug. 9, 1930, at rural Odin, to Joseph and Mary (Reif) Finger. She married Joseph Francis Schneider Aug. 11, 1953, at Odin. He died March 29, 1995.
Betty was a homemaker and farm wife, also being employed as a bank teller.
A resident of Great Bend for the last two years, Betty had been a Hoisington resident since 1998, coming from rural Olmitz. She had grown up in the Redwing and Odin areas.
Betty was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and the Altar Society, both of Olmitz.  Betty was especially known for being a loving mother and grandmother, and a wonderful cook.
Survivors include two sons, Daryl Schneider and wife Mary Lynne of Hoisington, and Keith Schneider and wife Shelly of Olmitz; one daughter, Carol Krug and husband Kerry of Russell; one brother, Robert L. “Bob” Finger of Odin; two sisters-in-law, Corrine Finger of Hoisington and Rose Dietz of Redwing; three grandchildren, Brent Schneider, Alaina Schneider and Suzanna Schneider; two step-grandchildren, Nicole Krug and Tanner Krug; and one step-great-granddaughter, Evanlee. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Gerald Schneider, and by one brother, Lawrence “Larry” Finger.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Olmitz. Altar Society Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Interment will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Olmitz. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Kans for Kids, in care of the funeral home.
