Elizabeth “Liz” Ewing Moore, 87, died Dec. 4, at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born Dec. 14, 1926, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of William and Jesse (Funk) Stanley. On June 14, 1947, she married Robert Gilmore Ewing in Great Bend. The later divorced. On July 11, 1992, she married Darrel Herman in Great Bend. He died on Oct. 20, 2007. A lifetime resident of Great Bend she was a cook for USD #428, a secretary for Gibson, Titus and Stafford and retired as a clerk for Centel.
Mrs. Moore was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, where she was a past officer. She was also a 4-H leader and worked at Noah’s Ark Preschool.
Survivors include, one son, Douglas R. Ewing and his wife Jalayne of Ellinwood; two daughters, Terri Kohls and her husband Kent of Great Bend, and Sandy Parret and Lonnie Foos of Larned; one sister, Phyllis Hutchinson of Mesa, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren, Brian Ewing, Jody Robins, Eric Tolan, Brandy Gaddis, Carrie Pelzel, Melissa Widiger, Crystal Tolan, Stephanie Davis, Chad Herbert, Cheryl Tolan, Megan Donecker, April Dustman, and Christopher Ewing; and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gary Ewing; one daughter-in-law, Mona Ewing; and one infant sister, Margaret Stanley.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Great Bend with the Reverend Lennie Maxwell officiating. Inurnment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Noah’s Ark Preschool or Cherry Village Alzheimer’s Unit, in care of the funeral home.
