GREAT BEND -- Elizabeth Lula Rose “Betty” Straub, 79, died on May 7 at her home in Great Bend. Born Aug. 10, 1932 in Coodys Bluff, Okla. she was the daughter of Victor and Goldia (Adamson) Coker. She was a graduate of Claflin High School. On Nov. 24, 1952 she married Robert F. Hickey in Hoisington. He died on April 8, 1972. On May 31, 1974 she married Walter Joseph Straub in Hoisington. He died on Jan. 19, 2011. A lifetime resident of Barton County, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Straub was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Altar Society, in Great Bend.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Leger and her husband Mike of Humble, Texas, Beverly Corkill and her husband Clyde of Lawrence, and Linda Hart and her husband Brad of Lenexa; two sons, Ron Straub and his wife Kathy of Great Bend and Larry Straub and his wife Julie of Salina; two sisters, Delores Rouse of Great Bend and Shirley Foos of Talequah, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Jessica Barr, Audrey Corkill, Kristy Straub, Darren Straub, Hillary Straub, Brantley Straub, David Hart, and Jeffrey Hart; and three great-grandchildren, Markail Dew, Baze Hogan, and Vivian Elizabeth Barr. She was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Coker; and one sister, Gene Simmons.
Altar Society Rosary will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home. Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Hoisington. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
