BISON — Ella Marie Steitz was born Jan. 9, 1934, in Bison in Rush County, the daughter of Jacob and Ella (Schaumburg) Scheuerman. She was adopted and raised by her parents, Constain and Florence (Scheuerman) Steitz. She graduated from Bison High School in 1952 and attended Fort Hays College. After living in Denver, Colo. for 31 years, she retired from Shell Chemical and returned to Bison in 1988.
Ella was a member of the Joy Club in Bison.
Survivors include, her sister, Connie Erb of Schertz, Texas; her sister-in-law, Alyse Steitz of Springfield, Mo.; and nieces and a nephew — Gail, Linda, Wendy, Donna, Joyce, Janice, Candice and Phil.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her adoptive parents, Constain and Florence (Scheuerman) Steitz; and her brother, Donald Lee Steitz.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m.  Saturday at the Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse with Pastor Laura Smith officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
