Elnora Leone (Lynn) Jinks

LARNED — Elnora Leone (Lynn) Jinks passed away on Sept. 23, 2020 at Midlothian, Texas. She was born on April 30, 1925 at Scott City, Kan. to Edward J. and Maggie (Miller) Schultz. The family moved to Pawnee County, Kan. when she was very young, and later moved into Larned. Her nickname in high school was “Dutch” and she was a member of the Dramatics Class, taking part in several plays. Elnora graduated from Larned High School in 1942 and then attended Business School in Hutchinson, Kan. 

She married Jerry Jinks on June 7, 1958, and they lived in Larned the rest of their lives. They both worked many years at Larned State Hospital. Elnora was the Secretary for the Social Services Department. She took great pride in the fact that she could make the department run smoothly and make her boss look good. She retired at age 70 after 39 years of service. Elnora was also well known for her Avon business

She enjoyed traveling with Jerry in their RV, and going to Lake Wilson for weekends. She loved fishing, camping, and being in their boat. Elnora also loved spending time at Port Lavaca, Texas on the beach. She and Jerry would also spend a week in the RV at the Hutchinson State Fair every year. She loved decorating her home. 

Elnora was preceded in death by her parents Edward J. and Maggie Schult; two brothers, Vernon and Estes; three sisters Ethel, Doris, and Gladys; and husband Jerry Jinks. She is survived by her children Benny Chesebro of Waxahachie, Texas, and Barry Chesebro of Topeka, Kan.; her beloved grandchildren Brian Brown of Richardson, Texas, Suzanne Bruyere of Frisco, Texas, Christy Chesebro, career Air Force, currently stationed at Clovis, N.M., Dan W. Gill of Ruidoso, N.M., Thomas Metzler, Agaunga, Calif., and Curtis Metzler of Carrolton, Texas. Elnora is also survived by five great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. 

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 2020 at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor Mark Slattery presiding. Service will be viewable via Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/beckwithmortuary. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020, with family present from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Interment in Larned Cemetery.
