Elwood L. Woody Doze 1963 - 2013

HOISINGTON — Elwood L. “Woody” Doze, 50, died Oct. 23 at his home in rural Hoisington. He was born July 4, 1963, at Great Bend, the son of Robert and Florence (Clayton) Doze.  Elwood graduated from Great Bend High School where he was a member of the FFA. He had been a Hoisington resident since 2002, coming from Medicine Lodge. He worked as a rancher and enjoyed roping and also rode in the Medicine Lodge Peace Treaty.
On Jan. 7, 1989, he married Phyllis Liebst at Medicine Lodge. They later divorced.
Survivors include his mother, Florence Doze of Hoisington; ex-wife, Phyllis Doze of Medicine Lodge; one daughter, Victoria Doze of Medicine Lodge; one son, Dewey Doze of Medicine Lodge; two brothers, Denton Doze and wife Marcina of Hurley, Miss., and Kenton Doze and wife Teri of Hoisington; and one sister, Rowena Clark of Stafford. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; and grandparents, Martin and Mary Doze and Harry and Blanche Clayton.
Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington with Chris Clark officiating. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Medicine Lodge FFA or Golden Belt Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
