Elwyn (Dusty) Briggs, 74, born July 3rd, 1949 in Eureka, California, passed away on August 27th, 2023 at Wilson Care and Rehabilitation Center in Wilson, Kansas.
He graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1967. He was also attending Kansas State Teachers College.
He joined the Navy in 1967 as a Fire Control Technician during Vietnam. He served as a Gunners Mate on the destroyer, USS Agerholm and later retired as a Chief Career Counselor.
After his retirement from the Navy, he went on to retire from the State of Kansas in Great Bend, Kansas. He opened and ran Briggs Firearm Supply in Bushton, Kansas.
He is survived by his spouse, Janice Briggs and daughter, Lori Rook. He has four grandchildren, Lacey Salas, Miranda Salas, Dakotah Rook, and David Rook Jr. He had two great-grandchildren, Esiah Salas and Gabryanna Mendez. He is also survived by his sister Celinda Stricklan. He was preceded in death by his father, John Briggs, Mother, Louise Briggs, brother, Johnny Briggs, and brother, Jerry Briggs.
Services will be on Saturday, September 9th at 3 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, Vietnam Memorial, 338 Veterans Parkway, Wichita Kansas.
