Emma Moeder 1921 - 2016

LACROSSE — Emma Moeder, 94, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Brookdale Hays in Hays. Born Nov. 1, 1921, in rural Rush County, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Veronica (Legleiter) Herrman. She was a 1941 graduate of LaCrosse High School. On Jan. 22, 1946, she married William “Bill” Moeder at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in LaCrosse, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2006. A lifelong resident of Rush County, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Moeder was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and St. Michael’s Altar Society, both of LaCrosse. She enjoyed her time as a volunteer for the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include, two sons, Norbert Moeder (Cheri), of LaCrosse, and Bennett Moeder (Alisa), of Otis; four daughters, Linda Scheuerman Martin of Overland Park, Barbara Beran (Ken) of Hays, Patricia Haberman of Great Bend, and Carol Scott (Joe), of Sublette; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; three brothers, Marvin Herrman (Florence), of LaCrosse, Albert Herrman (Mary), of Great Bend, and Alex Herrman (Twila), of LaCrosse; and two sisters, Edith Bollig (Rich), of Great Bend, and Elenora Moeder, LaCrosse. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson; two sons-in-law, Kelly Scheuerman, and Maurice Haberman; five brothers, Chris Herrman, Alvin Herrman, Elmer Herrman, Kenneth Herrman, and Raymond Herrman; and three sisters, Agnes Herrman, Bertha Sauber, and Sister Louise Herrman.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in La Crosse with Father Matthew Kumi officiating. Interment will be in the LaCrosse City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4  to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse. A vigil service and rosary will be at 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Church visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in La Crosse. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Michael’s Catholic Church in LaCrosse, Hospice at Hays Medical Center in Hays or Brookdale Hays Activity Fund in Hays.
