TIMKEN — Ernest “Ernie” Bucl, 88, died Sept. 14 at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse.  Born April 15, 1926 at La Crosse, he was the son of Lucian and Frances (Havelka) Bucl.
He married Hedwig Elizabeth “Hedy” Unrein Oct. 23, 1951 at LaCrosse.  A lifetime resident of Timken, Mr. Bucl was a farmer and stockman.
He was a United States Navy veteran, serving during World War II in the Pacific aboard the USS Terror from 1944 to 1946.  He was a member of Bohemian Lodge and American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, all of Timken. He enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool.
Survivors include his wife, Hedwig Elizabeth “Hedy” Bucl, of the home; five children: Loarn Bucl of Sublette; Diana Sunley and her husband Ralph of Great Bend; Craig Bucl and his wife Jody of McPherson; Brad Bucl and his wife Lanna of Hill City; and Bryan Bucl and his wife Chollet of Wichita; 13 grandchildren: Casper Bucl, Lucas Bucl, Sheldon Bucl, Colby Bucl, Alicia Easlon, Rachel Colby, Jennifer Vratil, Ryan Smith, Lacey Stowers, Emily Bucl, Megan Bucl, Madisyn Bucl, and Makaela Bucl; and 19 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two infant sisters, Marie Bucl and Frances Bucl.
Vigil service with rosary will be at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 19 at Bryant Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 20 at Bryant Funeral Home  with Father Charles Mazouch and Father Ultan Murphy officiating.  Interment with military rites will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery at Timken.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 19, at Bryant Funeral Home.  Memorials are suggested to Bohemian National Cemetery, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.  Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
