Esther Marie Urban 1922-2015

LA CROSSE — Esther Marie Urban, 92, died Jan. 10, 2015, at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse.
Mrs. Urban was born Sept. 29, 1922, in rural Loretto, Kansas, the daughter of Alois G. and Anna (Schlitter) Urban. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas.  A 1940 graduate of Bison High School, she was a homemaker and was employed at Travenol, Hays. On April 30, 1947, she married Alfred T. Urban at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Loretto. He preceded her in death Sept. 17, 2002.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and St. Michael’s Altar Society, both of La Crosse, Kansas; St. Mary’s Altar Society, Loretto, Kansas; and the Daughters Of Isabella, Victoria, Kansas.
Survivors include:  five sons, Daryll J. Urban, La Crosse; Reginald A. Urban, Garden City; Alan L. Urban, and his wife, Sue Urban, La Crosse;  Maynard Urban, Hutchinson;, and Kevin J. Urban, and his wife, Barbara Urban, Salina; a daughter, Pam A. Hamel, and her husband, Stan Hamel, McPherson; 11 grandchildren, Matthew Urban, Jacob Urban, Rebekah Morse, Christopher Urban, Rachel Urban, Jered Hamel, Andrea Mandour, Brandon Hamel, Lisa Urban, Phillip Urban, and Miranda Urban; five great-grandchildren, Henry Morse, Claire Morse, Pearl Urban, Harper Urban, and Oliver Urban, and a brother, Paul Urban, Victoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and four brothers, George Urban, Leonard Urban, Carl Urban, Eugene Urban.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, with the family receiving family and friends from 6 to 7 p.m.  A vigil service and rosary will be at 7 p.m. Church visitation will be from 10 to 10:50 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, with the Most Reverend John B. Brungardt, Reverend Reginald A. Urban, and Father Matthew Kumi officiating.  Interment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Shrine, Loretto; or the Daughters Of Isabella, Victoria; or St. Michael’s Catholic Church For Masses, La Crosse.
