RUSSELL — Eugene A. Nuss, 82, died May 10 from injuries sustained in an accident. Born March 16, 1929, in Russell County, he was the son of Edward and Amelia (Karst) Nuss. On Oct. 4, 1953, he married Velda M. Keil in Milberger. A lifelong resident of Russell County, he was a farmer and former employee of Karst Construction.
Mr. Nuss served during the Korean Conflict as a Sgt. in the United States Army. He was a Bronze Star recipient-Korea. He was a member of the United Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Milberger and Church Council member.
Survivors include his wife, Velda M. Nuss, of the home; a son, Ronald Nuss and wife Deborah of Russell; a daughter, Brenda Rodger and husband Gary of Russell; a sister, Ruth Mai of Russell; a brother, Leland Nuss of Russell; four grandchildren, Sean Rodger and wife Andrea, Sonya Nuss, Renee Braun and husband Dan, and Tyler Nuss and wife Kayla; three great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the United Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Milberger with the Rev. Delvin Strecker and the Rev. Amy Austin officiating. Burial will be at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Milberger with Military graveside rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7428 and the American Legion Post #286. Friends may visit from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home with prayer service at 7 p.m. and from 9:30 a.m. to service time on Friday at the church.
