ELLINWOOD — Eva Mae Ramsay Gray (Sissy) died unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at Via Christi St. Francis hospital in Wichita. She was born May 3, 1949 in Tulsa, Okla. She was the beloved partner of Mickiel Goracke, of Ellinwood, for the past 22 years.
Eva had a strong sense of community, and was involved wherever she lived. While residing in Jacumba, Calif., she was a Co-Girl Scout leader, and an active member in both the Kiwanis and Jacumba Women’s clubs. Once she relocated to Ellinwood Eva became a member of the VFW and the Cooties Club. She enjoyed crafting, to include sewing and beading, but her favorite hobby was making her family and friends laugh and feel loved. Her quick smile and twinkling eyes will be warmly remembered by her surviving family.
Eva leaves behind two children, daughter, Karen Ramsay Woodward and Bill Woodward and son, Harold Gray; Nicole Wilson Gray, three grandchildren, Brittany Woodward, Felicity Gray, and Collin Gray; a great-grandson, August Tabion; and two siblings, sister, Barbara Summers and brother Rick Gordon and Susan Gordon. She will be welcomed into heaven by her mother and father, Bertha and LJ Ramsay; and her son, George Ramsay.
A well attended Memorial was held in honor of Eva on Jan. 11, 2017, at the Historic Wolf Hotel in Ellinwood for friends and family in and around the Kansas area. Loved ones gathered to comfort and share favorite stories of their cherished friend and mother. A second Memorial for Eva will be held at noon on Jan. 18, 2017, at Jacumba Community United Methodist Church in Jacumba, Calif. Join us in celebrating the life of our beloved mother, partner, sister, and friend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Make-A- Wish San Diego, 2440 Hotel Circle North Suite 200, San Diego, CA 92108.
