ELK CITY, Okla. — Evelyn "Janice" Wallen, 81, died Jan. 20 at Southwind Hospice in Pratt. She was born Feb. 7, 1930, in Stafford County, the daughter of Edwin and Lydia (Dirks) Grow. She married Britt Wallen in 1967 at Great Bend. He died in 2005.
She formerly worked for Bo-Mid Draperies as a seamstress. Mrs. Wallen was an Elk City, Oklahoma resident from 1973-2010 before moving to Great Bend.
Survivors include one son, Terry Taylor and wife Connie of Great Bend; one daughter, Debbie Harris of Great Bend; two sisters, Eloise Dolezal and husband Ralph of Great Bend, and Anna Marie Washington and husband Bill of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandchildren, Heather Vanaman and Nicolas Taylor; and three great-grandchildren, Ashley Vanaman, who was raised by Janice, Ryan Vanaman and Mark Edwin Vanaman. She was preceded in death by one infant Brother.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with the Rev. Dick Ogle officiating. Interment will be at Eden Valley in Stafford County. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Southwind Hospice, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
