HOLYROOD — Fern Marie Zajic, 89, passed away Nov. 14, 2015. Born Oct. 28, 1926, in Ellsworth County, she was the daughter of Hedwig (Hoffman) and Edwin Westerman. On May 14, 1948, she married Harold Ray Zajic in Holyrood. A lifetime resident of Ellsworth County, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Zajic was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ of Holyrood, the Holyrood VFW Auxiliary, Golden Belt Community Concerts Board of Directors, and St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Ladies’ Guild in Holyrood.
Survivors include three sons, Ray Dean Zajic (Jane) of Nixa, Mo., Randy Zajic (Denise) of Holyrood, and Michael Allan Zajic of Stockton; a daughter, Sandra Sue Byer (Troy) of Great Bend; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, with four on the way; and many more family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; five brothers, Lee, Ralph, Clyde (Bud), Ed, and Charles Westerman; and sister, Francis Kottas.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. in Thursday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Holyrood. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Parsons Funeral Home in Ellsworth, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Golden Belt Community Concerts or St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Holyrood, in care of the funeral home.
