Florene S. Batchman 1937 - 2016

Florene S. Batchman, 78, died April 21, 2016, at her home in Great Bend. Born Oct. 21, 1937, in Pawnee County, she was the daughter of William Melvin and Zelpha Ione (Smith) Kendall. On Nov. 3, 1957, she married Leonard Albert Batchman in Barton County. He died on April 4, 1981. A resident of Great Bend for 59 years, coming from Pawnee County, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Lewis and Dortha Batchman, both of Great Bend; two sisters, Barbara Phillips of Hutchinson, and Laura Lou Rodarmel of St. John; five grandchildren, Amie Stark, Mickey Wear, Jamie Hapes, Tony Batchman and Shawn Wear; and seven great-grandchildren, Brandon Workman, Blake Ridgel, Matt Hapes, Dylon Wear, Skylar Fellers, Nichole Batchman and Kayle Baldwin. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Hapes.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Amy Foster officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m., with family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
