Florine Meister, 93, died March 20 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born Jan. 2, 1921, in Loretto, she was the daughter of Jacob Joseph and Katie I. (Suppes) Urban. On Nov. 13, 1940, she married Elwyn Koochel at Loretto. He died on March 26, 1978. She then married John P. Meister on Aug. 10, 1985, in Timken. He died on June 25, 2006. A resident of Great Bend since 1985, coming from the farm in Albert, she was a homemaker. She enjoyed bingo and playing in her pitch card clubs.
Mrs. Meister was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, Garfield Merry Matrons EHU, and Albert Senior Citizens.  
Survivors include four sons, Michael Koochel and his wife Lois, and Patrick Koochel and his wife Jillane, all of Great Bend, Mark Koochel and his wife Charlene of Albert, and Kevin Koochel of Salina; three daughters, Karen Axman and her husband Tony of Great Bend, Jane Brady and her husband Lee of Albert, and Judi Webster and her husband Alan of Hutchinson; one sister, Esther Wanzel of Davenport, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one stepson, Jeffrey Meister and his wife Lynette of Reston, Va.; and two stepdaughters, Rosemary Luthi and her husband Bob of Great Bend, and Barbara Schul and husband Mike of Holton. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin Urban, Hubert Urban, and infant Raymond Urban; three sisters, Frances Owens, Mary Depperschmidt, and Sister Marietta Urban, O.P.; and one great-grandson, Jared Axman.
Altar society rosary will be at 4 p.m. and a vigil service and Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 7 p.m., both on Sunday, March 23, at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Don Bedore and Father Reginald A. Urban concelebrating. Burial will be at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Timken. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to Woodhaven Care Center or Prince of Peace Parish, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
