Frances Finn McCarthy died at Regent Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Wichita on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013.
She was born Sept. 2, 1923 in Hoisington to Clara and Charles Finn. She married Colonel George McCarthy in August of 1945 and was a longtime resident of Great Bend.
She is preceded in death by George in 1994, daughter Molly Clippinger in 2002, son-in-law Jonathan Phelps in 2007, and granddaughter Jessica in 1991.
Survivors include:  daughters Kathryn Maninger of St. Louis, Mo., Jennifer Fischer (David) of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Geoanna McCarthy of St. Louis, Mo.; son, Timothy McCarthy (Kay) of Overland Park; grandchildren Jenifer Maninger of Orlando, Fla., Sarah Forneris (Anthony) of Collinsville, Ill., Kyle Maninger (Jennifer) of Atlanta, Ga., Jeffrey Phelps (Stefanie) of Los Angeles, Calif., Brian McCarthy of Overland Park; and great-grandchildren Lilly Forneris, Kate Phelps, and Avery Maninger.
There will be a private service for family only, and interment will be in Arlington Cemetery, Washington, D.C.
She made us each feel like a wonderful child and lived with an elegance and class that was only outshone by her kindness and undying generosity, not only to her family, but to her church, her community, and to everyone she ever touched. She will be loved forever and missed always.
