NESS CITY — Frank X. Miller, 90, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2012 at the Hays Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 7, 1921 to Max F. and Olinda Beahm Miller in LaCrosse. On November 13, 1949, he married Arlene Musbach in Ness City. She survives.
Also surviving are children Kent Miller and wife Chris, Beloit; Kirk Miller and wife Lois, LaCrosse; and Annette and husband Dan Frey, Broken Bow, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He graduated from LaCrosse High School in 1939 and from Kansas State University in May 1943 with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II from 1942 until he was honorably discharged on June 19, 1946.
He moved to Ness City in 1947 and served as Ness County Agricultural Extension agent until 1955 when he became district sales manager for DeKalb Ag Research until 1982. He then went to work as district sales manager for O’s Gold Seed Company for two years before he retired.
He served on the Ness City USD 303 school board, was named a Paul Harris Fellow through the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, was a VFW member, and was a former 4-H community club leader. He was a member of the Ness City First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Kirby.
A funeral service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6 at the Ness City First Baptist Church. Burial will be at the Ness City Cemetery.
Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday.
