ABILENE, TEXAS — Franklin L. Reed, 71, of Abilene, Texas, died Oct. 16, 2018. The son of Walter A. and Laura (Levy) Reed. He was born in Perry, Okla. Married to Klara Meier and then later divorced. He resided in Abilene, Texas with Lillie Young.
He attended school in Hill City, Kan., and was the former owner of The Water Hole, and Slip Shots. He enjoyed playing pool, golfing, riding horses, and fishing. Worked for Varner Pipe yard in Clyde, Texas until he retired.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Fredrick, Gerald, and Donald; one sister, Theresa. Survivors include, former wife, Klara; companion, Lillie; children, Kirk (Tracy), Kala McLaren (Brian); grandchildren, Garrett, Ryan, Kelsi, Kara, and Isabella; brothers, Walter D, Richard (Connie), Terry (Penny), Steven (Heather), Robert and Kevin (Jennifer); sister, Denise Mitchell (Steve); many nieces and nephews; extended family, Monte (Kim) Young, Gina (Beau) Harper and their two children, Lillie and Cordell.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 at the Great Bend Cemetery officiated by Pastor Rick Standlee.
