Fred W. Becker, 79, died June 16 at Wheatridge Park Care Center, Liberal. He was born July 15, 1931 at Tyro the son of J. W. Alfred & Anna (Prange) Becker.
He married Phyllis J. Dixon January 27, 1957 at Duncan, Okla. She died March 2, 2005. Mr. Becker was a dispatcher for Farmland Industries.
Mr. Becker was a Great Bend resident since 1957, also living in Moberly, Mo., Kansas City, Mo., McPherson and Ellsworth.
Mr. Becker was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Great Bend. He loved camping, fishing and working as camp host at Lake Wilson for many years. He loved going to the zoo every Sunday.
His survivors include one stepdaughter Sandra Houk and husband Bill of Liberal; two brothers, Roger Glen Becker and wife Judy of Surprise, Ariz.; and Lawrence Seyler Becker of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, Jim Brown of Lafayette, Ind. and Jamie Brown of Wichita; two great-grandchildren, Leanne Lovell-Ramey of Lafayette, Ind. and Corey James Brown of LaFayette, Ind.; and two great-great-grandchildren, Karsyn Wayne Lovell-Ramey and Caydence Renee Lovell-Ramey
The memorial graveside service is 10:30 a.m., Monday at Great Bend Cemetery. The officiant is The Rev. James A. Strasen. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
