HOISINGTON — George L. Carson, 71, died Aug. 30, at Clara Barton Hospital. Born July 18, 1943 in Great Bend, he was the son of Russell and Pearl (Smith) Carson. On March 3, 1967, he married Gloria Newell in Damar. He was a graduate of Fort Hays State University. A lifetime resident of rural Barton County, he was employed by the Kansas Fish and Game Commission as a biologist.
Mr. Carson served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the North American Hunting Club, North American Fishing Club, N.R.A., American Legion Argonne Post 180, and was active with Boy Scouts of America.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Carson of the home; a son, Christopher Carson of Galatia; and three adopted children, Debra, Rodney and Neil. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bobby Carson.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Damar with eulogy by Patsy Anne Belisle. Memorials are suggested to the Hungry Heart Soup Kitchen, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net
