MEDICINE LODGE — Gerald “Jerry” Willms, 48, died Aug. 12 at his home in Medicine Lodge. Born on Dec. 4, 1963 in Great Bend, he was the son of Dan and Connie (Ginest) Willms. On Dec. 6, 2008 he married Tammy L. Bishop at Medicine Lodge.  She survives.
Other survivors include his father Dan of Medicine Lodge; his step-father Tom Keenan of Great Bend; a son Weston Groth of LaCrosse; a daughter Rachelle (Jeremy) Bergstrom of Scranton, N.D.; a step-daughter, Ashley McAllaster of Medicine Lodge; a sister Beverly (Paul) Nobrega of Overland Park; three brothers, Terry (Julie) Willms of St. Paul, Minn., Mike Willms of Haysville, and Brian (Dawn) Willms of Dublin, Ohio; two step-brothers, Josh Sandoval, and Shawn Sandoval, both of Dodge City; two grandchildren, Conner and Bentley Bergstrom; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Connie Ginest; paternal grandparents, Wallace “Wally” and Gertie Willms; and maternal grandparents Harley and Mary Everett.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday at the First Christian Church in Medicine Lodge with Pastor Tom Walters officiating. Cremation has taken place. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Jerry Willms Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
