LARNED — Gladys Hungate, 98, of Clinton, Iowa, formerly of Larned, died Aug. 5, at the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton, Iowa.
She was born May 2, 1913, in Pawnee Rock, the daughter of Benjamin and Susie (Base) Koehn. 
In 1933 she married Myron L. Hungate. They farmed in western Kansas before moving to Larned in 1938, where Myron was a contractor. He died in 1994. Gladys lived in Larned until her move to Iowa in 2004. She was employed as an assistant to Dr. Robert Bair, a Larned optometrist, for 23 years.
Mrs. Hungate was a member of the First Christian Church in Larned and sang in the church choir for many years.  She enjoyed playing card games, collecting owls, and spending time with family and friends.  
Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen (David) Sivright, Clinton, Iowa; daughter-in-law Beverly Hungate, Lenexa; six grandchildren, Chris Sivright, Camanche, Iowa; Lora (Matt) Muilenburg, Prairie du Chien, Wis.; Jason (Audra) Hungate, Kearney, Mo.; Gina (Chad) Huff, Moorseville, Mo.; Mira (Rusty) Hammond, Larned; and Mark Hungate, Kansas City, Mo.; and 16 great-grandchildren. 
In addition to Myron, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jay Hungate; three brothers; and 10 sisters. 
A funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 20 at the Beckwith Mortuary in Larned. Burial will follow at the Larned Cemetery.
