ELLINWOOD — Gladys Marie Barnett, 90, passed away on Jan. 16th, 2023. Born in Great Bend, Kan. on April 7th, 1932 she was the daughter of Stanley and Dorothy (Schade) Ringering. A longtime Wichita, Kan. resident, Gladys grew up in Ellinwood graduating from Ellinwood HS in 1950 before moving to Great Bend and finally to Wichita. She worked as a secretary at a hearing aid company. Gladys loved bowling and participated in multiple leagues at one time bowling nearly every day of the week. She also enjoyed Western movies.
Survivors include step-children, Mark (Cinda) Barnett, Wichita, Kan. and Kirk (Luanne) Barnett, Wichita, Kan; sister, Delores (Milt) Schwertfeger, Ellinwood, Kan.; sister-in-law, Karen Ringering, Ellinwood, Kan.; nephews, Richard (Debbie) of Plano, Texas, Russell (Monica) of Ellinwood and Paul Ringering of Ellinwood, Kan. Gladys was preceded in death by two husbands, Bill Engelman and later John Barnett; and brother Melvin Ringering.
Memorial service will take place 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26th at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood, Kan. with Pastor David Wesner officiating. Inurnment will follow at Lakin Comanche Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Ellinwood Hospital Foundation in care of Minnis Chapel, Po Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
