Grace Anna Mehl 1918 - 2015

HOLYROOD — Grace Anna Mehl, 96, passed away Jan. 9, in Wilson. Born Oct. 14, 1918, in Claflin, she was the daughter of Henry and Anna (Lubinus) Soeken. On June 1, 1941, she married Harvey W. Mehl in Claflin. He preceded her in death in 2001. A lifetime resident of the Claflin, Holyrood, and Lorraine areas, she was a homemaker, farm wife, and nurse’s aide at Ellsworth Hospital.
Mrs. Mehl was a longtime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Holyrood. She was also a member of AARP, Ladies Aid, LWML, and the Quilting Bee.
Survivors include by a son, Dean Mehl (Janet) of Darien, Ill.; a daughter, Deborah Konneker (Lloyd) of Raleigh, N.C.; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Kelly, Thomas, and Dena; and three great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Gabriella, and Brayden. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Martha Kootz; and brothers, Edward, Albert, and Raymond.   
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Holyrood with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Parsons Funeral Home in Ellsworth. Memorials may be made to the church or Lutheran Hour Ministries, in  care of the funeral home
