HUTCHINSON — Gustav (Gus) Regehr, 91, of Hutchinson, passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, in Rainbow Bend at his daughter’s home.
Gus was born Oct. 23, 1927, in rural Inman to George T. and Helena (Fehdrau) Regehr. He attended school in Inman. On Sept. 20, 1959, he married Ruth Louise Wiebe in Walton. He was employed for many years by Fraese Drug and later for Dillons.
He was a longtime member of Bethel Mennonite Church. Gus enjoyed a good joke, solving tricky puzzles, collecting stamps, Bluegrass music and visiting with family and friends. He loved horses and was especially fond of Shetland ponies. He will be remembered for his eagerness to learn new things and his positive, friendly attitude.
Gus was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rosella Gaeddert and husband Elmer; brother Harold and wife Mary; and infant brother George Jr. He is survived by his wife Ruth; daughter, Judy (Kathy), Rainbow Bend; son, Don (Marlene), Great Bend and Leon (Ruth), Clarinda, Iowa; grandchildren, Kyle (Amanda) and Heather Auffert, Lance Regehr, Allison and Madison Regehr; and great-grandson Easton Auffert.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at Bethel Mennonite Church, 256 8th Ave., Inman. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary.
