Harold Roger Ward 1936-2016

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Harold Roger Ward, 79, died Jan. 8, 2016 at Integris Baptist Hospital, Oklahoma City.
He was born March 24, 1936 at Corpus Christi, Texas, the son of Ralph L. & Eva R. (Ward) Ward.
Harold attended high school in Great Bend, where he met his future wife, Jolene Dodd. He and Jolene were married in Pawnee Rock, on Oct. 7, 1956, enjoying nearly 60 years together. Harold served in the National Guard from 1954 to 1984, and was a Stafford county farmer and oil field worker.
In 1980, Harold and Jolene relocated to Oklahoma City, where they resided until his death. Being one of the first liver transplant recipients at Integris Baptist Hospital, Harold was a medical miracle, surviving for over 18 years. His hobbies were hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife: Jolene Ward, of the home; two sons, Scott Ward and his wife Valeta, St. John; Brett Ward and his wife Kathleen, St. John; a daughter: Chana Scantlin and her husband Harold, Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Wesley, Nina Marie Ward, and Anna Lavona “Ann” Postlethwaite.
Funeral Service is scheduled at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13 at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend with Rev. Dick Ogle officiating. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, Memorials have been designated to Crossover Church, Oklahoma City, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
