HOISINGTON — Hazeltene “Babe” (Driscoll) Schremmer died Dec. 19, 2013, at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington after a long illness. She was born Nov. 16, 1922, in Dorrance, the daughter of Daniel Joseph Driscoll and Hazel Etta (Sinclair) Driscoll.
On July 21, 1941, she married Oswald “Ossie” Schremmer at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Dubuque, Kan. She worked many years as a store clerk; her earliest job was in our local Duckwall store during World War II, later at Rice Rexall Drug, that later became Cardinal Pharmacy. She was a resident of Hoisington since 1955, moving from Susank.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. John Altar Society and an Auxiliary Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7428 of Hoisington.
She enjoyed visiting with people and  spent countless hours volunteering her time to the Friendship Meals Program; you could call her anytime for food for a funeral dinner, making quilt squares for a church project, visiting family and friends at the nursing home or hospital. Most important to her was her family; her children could always count on her to help out. She loved her grandchildren and was so happy to be able to meet all of her great-grandchildren. Family was everything to her – her priority and joy as she was to  all of them.
Survivors include one son, Virgil Schremmer and wife Pat, of Hutchinson; two daughters, Miriam Wilborn and  husband Keith, and Marcia Schremmer, both of Hoisington; grandchildren, Brian Wilborn and wife Cindy, Krista Brewer and husband Ben, all of Hoisington, Kari Bloomer and husband Chad, of Ottawa, Lisa Pickering and husband Darrin, of Hutchinson;  great-grandchildren, Hannah, Madison and Nolan Wilborn, Avery and Livvy Brewer, Chandler, Chase and Boston Bloomer, Tyler and Trammer McGuire and Taylor Pickering.
She was preceded in death by her husband Oswald “Ossie”; a grandson, Michael Shawn Schremmer; two brothers: Jack Dean Driscoll Sr. and Joseph “Bud” Driscoll; and four sisters, Maxine Ware, Eleanor Spacil, Helen Stevens and Geraldine Purring.
Vigil service followed by an Altar Society Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic  Church, Hoisington, with Father Bob Schremmer and Father Anselm C. Eke as concelebrants. Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Hoisington. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested  to  St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Clara Barton Hospital Foundation or Kans for Kids, in care of the funeral home.
