Helen B. (Burhenn) Habiger

ELLINWOOD — Helen B. (Burhenn) Habiger, 97, passed away on May 12, 2021 at Ellinwood District Hospital in Ellinwood, Kan. Born in rural Stafford County on Dec. 26th, 1923 she was the daughter of John and Thena (Smith) Burhenn. She graduated from Stafford High School in 1942. Helen married Victor J. Habiger on Feb. 14, 1944 at St. Peter & Paul Church north of Ellinwood. He passed away on Jan. 4, 1997. Helen was a loving mother, farm wife and homemaker. She loved Christmas time with family and friends and enjoyed planting flowers.  

Survivors include sons, Jim (Lynee) Habiger, Kinsley, Kan. and Dennis (Marla) Habiger, Ellinwood, Kan.; daughters Theresa (Dennis Francis) Habiger, Knoxville, Tenn., Sheila Beets, Smithville, Mo., Linda Habiger, Kansas City, Kan. Other survivors include eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brother, Elmer Burhenn and son in law, Larry Beets. 

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m., Mon. May 17th at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Klein officiating. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery with luncheon to follow at Prince of Peace parish center in Great Bend. Visitation will be Sun. May 16th from 1-7 p.m. with parish Rosary/Vigil starting at 7 p.m. at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood with family present from 6-7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Ellinwood Hospital Foundation or St. Joseph School Endowment in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
