CHASE — Helen M. Keesling, 88, died March 8, 2016, at Rice County District Hospital in Lyons. Born Aug. 3, 1927, in Russell, she was the daughter of David F. and Bertha Kastrup Miller. She graduated from Englewood High School in Englewood, Calif. On Feb. 15, 1948, she married Harold R. Keesling in Lyons. He died on May 18, 2000. A resident of Chase since the 1940’s, she was a homemaker and former Fuller Brush employee for over 20 years.
Mrs. Keesling was of the Lutheran faith. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Lyons and the Chase Senior Center Board.
Survivors include a son, Randy and Pam Keesling of Lyons; a sister, Ruth Keesling of Chase; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Keesling; two sisters, Violet Lohmann and Pearl Miller; and a brother, Lewis Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Birzer Funeral Home in Lyons with the Rev. Joel Grizzle officiating. Burial will be at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m., with family present from 5 to 7 p.m., today at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Chase Senior Center or Lyons Fire Department, in care of the funeral home.
