GREAT BEND — Helen Mayers Blado, 98, passed away May 21, 2020, at Leisure Homestead, Stafford. She was born on June 5, 1921, at Tipton, to Casper & Anna (Junk) Pahls. She married Virgil Mayers in Riverside, Calif. and they later divorced.
A Great Bend resident, Helen worked for many years as a waitress. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend. She enjoyed antiques, her family, and grandchildren, but especially loved having large family get-togethers.
Survivors include, three sons, Joe Mayers of Great Bend, Frank Mayers and wife Jolene of Piedmont, Okla., and John Mayers and wife Marie of Albert; three daughters, Virginia Ramey and husband Rex of Great Bend, Vivian Pavlacka of Great Bend, and Barbara File and husband Allyn of Beloit; a daughter in law, Roxanne Mayers of Great Bend; a sister, Lilliam Harris of La.; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Virgil Mayers; a son, Steven Mayers; six brothers; three sisters; and two grandchildren, grandson, Adam and granddaughter, Tiffani.
Visitation will be held from 1-9 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Father Don Bedore presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
